As a kid, weekends spent skateboarding in Sheffield became weekend surf trips to the Yorkshire Coast as the first of my mates passed driving tests and bought beaten up cars and vans.

Since then, study and work have taken me to various places in the UK. Only occasionally living anywhere with waves on the doorstep.

I still surf as often as possible. Weekends are structured around the potential for surf and holidays and travel are based around surfing destinations (much to the frustration of my other half!).

When a swell coincides with time off I want to know where to be and when with military precision. No point wasting time driving up and down the coast checking spots. Time in the water is precious and I've often had a long enough drive already!
